Sunday Brunch took 'a turn' after host Tim Lovejoy was taken aback by a guest's "sinister" story. The Channel 4 show returned on Sunday morning (March 23) with guests comedian Ellie Taylor, musician John Power, racing driver and pundit Billy Monger and indie pop band The Lottery Winners. The conversation was flowing as Tim Lovejoy finished their popular segment Bland Designs, which featured DIY projects by viewers at home.
Tim Lovejoy asked The Lottery Winner's Thom Rylance about how he attempted to change a plug but received an electric shock. He explained: "I found one. It was plugged in, but it didn't have the end on it.
It was open, it was naked, and I could see all its insides. And I thought, I'll fix that. But I didn't unplug it and I ended up my hand went all sweaty.
Tim replied: "What, you had an electrical shock?" to which Thom quipped: "Yeah, it was very traumatic. Thanks for bringing it up." The 56-year-old presenter interjected and told viewers, "Seriously, don't mess about with electric ever, because that's really dangerous".
Thom continued his story: "It gave me the spark, though. You know, like Liam Gallagher said he got hit in the head with a hammer. Maybe I got shocked into being a genius.
" Thom referenced the famous story the Oasis frontman shared about how he was struck with a hammer by a student at a rival school, which he credits with changing his attitude towards music and wanting to join a band. A confused Tim Lovejoy, who didn't understand the reference, said: "Liam said what?" Thom joked: "Liam Gallagher said that he found the music because someone hit him in the head with a hammer. I got shocked in the hand.
So I'm not as good, but I'm still, I'm still doing it." Tim Lovejoy said: "This show has taken a turn, hasn't it?". Simon said: "In a dark way - in a sinister way!" Tim Lovejoy quickly tried to move on from the segment by turning to callers, but admitted "they haven't got any callers".
The presenter asked Myleene Klaas about her DIY 'dolphin orphanage' she made for her children, with video of her project on TV. Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday at 10.30am on Channel 4.
