Summerville recently picked up a pair of region wins and a tournament championship on the softball diamond. The Green Wave kept its winning streak alive, notching wins over region foes West Ashley and Ashley Ridge last week. Summerville looks to extend the streak when it travels to James Island Monday, April 7 to face the Trojans for the first time this season.
Summerville defeated West Ashley 3-1 April 4. Junior infielder Katie Guilliam had an inside-the-park homerun to score two of the runs. Senior Ansley Bennett had the pitching win.
The Green Wave traveled to The Swamp April 1 and handed Ashley Ridge a 14-4 loss. Freshman Maeven Moreno led the way at the plate with three hits that plated four runs. She also scored three of Summerville’s runs.
Senior catcher Abby Driscoll had a three-run homer in the top of the third inning. Junior Hope Chase had the pitching win against the Swamp Foxes. During the last week of March, Summerville won the Swamp Fox Invitational tournament, defeating Hanahan in the championship game.
