Put the woolly hat back in the wardrobe. Temperatures plunged to low single figures over the past week as an Arctic chill took over the country, but the weather is set to bounce back in the coming week. Met Éireann's forecast for the week ahead looks very promising, saying it will be "warm and largely dry with bright or sunny spells and temperatures in the high teens to low 20s".

Today (Sunday, September 15) started with some patchy rain and drizzle, the rest of the day is set for nationwide sunshine, with highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees. Scattered outbreaks of rain & drizzle in the E & S will continue to clear southeastwards through the #afternoon 🌦️☂️🌂🌥️ Mainly dry with bright weather to follow, good spells of sunshine developing⛅️🌤️ Highest temps 15 to 18..
