It's almost time to head back to Cousins. Ahead of the release of The Summer I Turned Pretty 's third and final season , a teaser video showing off a new look for protagonist Isabella "Belly" Conklin (played by Lola Tung ) in the upcoming Jenny Han adaptation has been revealed. In a video shared to TikTok March 10 , Lola—whose character normally sports a fresh-faced look and dons denim shorts—spun around and shook her hips while wearing a stunning midi-length yellow dress with spaghetti straps.
Reciting a quote from the first book in the trilogy, she said in a voiceover, "For me, everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. All year long, I count the days until I'm in that house." And while fans previously got a glimpse at the top half of the new ensemble when The Summer I Turned Pretty 's season three poster was unveiled earlier this month, this clip provided a head-to-toe look at Lola's more mature outfit, makeup look and hair style for the third installment.
At one point, the camera even zoomed in on the 22-year-old's face, highlighting her bright pink lip and matching blush, as well as her slicked back bun. As for the rest of the cast? Fans may have to wait until the show premieres in July on Amazon Prime to see how Jeremiah Fisher (played by Gavin Casalegno ), Conrad Fisher ( Christopher Briney ), Taylor Jewel ( Rain Spencer ) and Steven Conklin ( Sean Kauffman ) hit the beach for this go around. We'll always have summer ☀️ But what can be expected? The franchise's final installment—written by Jenny and her season two co-writers Sarah Kucserka and Karen Rosenfelt —will be well worth the wait.
"I'll tell you guys, season three is a lot," Lola shared during a panel at the Teen Vogue Summit in November. "[Belly] goes through the ringer." And Jenny echoed that sentiment, adding that the conclusion of the trilogy will see the realistic evolution of Belly going from young girl to young woman.
“We’re just with her every step of the way and hopefully having empathy for her and empathy for ourselves in moments where we have acted less than perfectly,” the author explained during the panel. “I think it’s hard to see characters really go through it or make these big mistakes and say those things that they really regret.” While you wait for The Summer I Turned Pretty to return to your TV screen, read on for more shows that are premiering this year.
