A Brockton student was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after another student stabbed them during a fight outside a city middle school, according to police. Brockton police and school police responded to the fight outside Plouffe Middle School shortly after 2:30 p.m.
One student was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound as a result of the fight, and “one individual” was detained, Brockton police said in a statement. The student who was stabbed was “slashed with a blade by a fellow student,” Brockton Public Schools said in a statement. The student who used the blade did not attend school on Wednesday for “unrelated reasons,” but came on to school grounds around dismissal time, and an altercation ensued.
“We are working closely with School Police and the Brockton Police Department to determine the facts surrounding this incident, and we are confident that there is no ongoing threat to school safety,” the statement reads. Police are still investigating the incident. No further information has been released.
