Neil Jones, a fellow Strictly Come Dancing professional, provided an update on his colleague Amy Dowden after she collapsed backstage before the recording of Saturday night's results show. On the Monday episode of BBC Morning Live (October, 28), there was a collective sense of optimism that Amy would recover fully, with Neil expressing confidence that she'd be back dancing soon. Speaking to Gethin Jones and Michelle Ackerley on BBC Morning Live, he said: "She's such a trooper, she's so strong.
" Despite being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer last year, Amy received the all-clear from doctors ahead of her announcement for the 2024 Strictly line-up. Following the incident on Saturday evening, it was reported that an ambulance was called to the BBC studios as a precautionary measure, and Amy is now reportedly feeling "much better," reports Wales Online . Subsequent reports have indicated that BBC executives have temporarily replaced Amy due to the "medical emergency" that occurred backstage during the live Halloween special.
Amy, who is in remission from breast cancer, was rushed to hospital after performing the Foxtrot to Toploader's hit Dancing In The Moonlight with her celebrity partner JB Gill from JLS. Lauren Oakley is understood to be stepping in for Amy temporarily on the dance floor. A source told The Sun: "Lauren will be stepping in today to train with JB.
It's unclear when Amy will be back but everyone just wants her to rest and get better." Concerns were raised that Amy, who also battles Crohn's disease, that she could leave the show after falling ill backstage during Saturday's episode. Amy's illness prevented her from joining JB Gill for the pre-recorded results show at the weekend, which airs on Sunday following the live performance on Saturday.
However, Amy and JB, who had earned 32 points from the judges, were spared from the dance-off due to public votes, ensuring JB's progression to the competition next week. BBC 's Morning Live airs weekdays on BBC One from 09:30am..
