Former Strictly Come Dancing star, Dr Punam Krishan, has shared the gruelling details of the BBC shows training regime as she opened up on how her professional dance partner, Gorka Marquez, helped her to keep going. The 41-year-old doctor shared that the schedule for learning the dancers is "very intense" and the impact that it had on her health. Dr Punam exclusively told Express.
co.uk : "It was intense, I'm not going to lie, it was really intense. I was still obviously working as a GP and then the training was dancing every single day for about six to seven hours.
So, it meant like just really making sure that I was eating as best as I could. I was burning calories like I've never burnt calories in my life! But also hydrating myself and sleeping. "It was hard because I had a lot on my plate and certain things did slip.
I'm not going to lie, I probably didn't get as much sleep as I should have been." Speaking about the support that her professional dance partner, Gorka Marquez , 34, provided the Strictly star continued: "I was lucky because I was paired up with Gorka and obviously I am someone who is massive on health and lifestyle and he is somebody who is really into his fitness. So I think together we made a great combination because we would take the breaks and eat the food.
"He was really looking after me. He was really giving me a lot of nutritional guidance along the way as well. He was always like 'have you had your electrolytes today?'" She concluded: "It was really good.
It was the best fitness journey of my life, hands down. I have never felt better than when I was on Strictly." Dr Punam is currently working on a campaign with Kenvue as they revealed that new data show Generation Z dedicates almost an hour (58 minutes) a day to their personal care routines - significantly higher than the national average of 40 minutes.
Despite their time investment, Gen Z struggles to navigate the overwhelming amount of information and ever-changing trends when it comes to personal care. Speaking about skincare habits, the former Strictly star said: "Understanding the right routine for your everyday care is essential because consistency is key. It’s important to understand what your own body, skin or oral care needs are and find a routine and products that work for you.
This can help to ensure that your personal care regimen is both effective and sustainable. "Some skincare essentials shouldn’t be forgotten, such as applying sunscreen daily to shield your skin from damaging UV rays, even on days where it may not look sunny. Oral hygiene is equally important to avoid negative consequences such as plaque buildup, cavities, and gum disease.
"Additionally, while maintaining good skin and hair care is important for daily hygiene, this alongside things like regular exercise can contribute to your overall health and wellbeing and boost your self-esteem. Finally, remember to seek advice from a healthcare professional if you need recommendations tailored to your personal needs.".
