The Scouse comedian and his professional partner Dianne Buswell were the 100th couple to dance at Blackpool Tower Ballroom Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland has confessed to grappling with this week's Paso Doble, hinting at potential hurdles ahead. The comedian and his dance partner Dianne Buswell had the honour of being the 100th couple to grace the Blackpool Tower Ballroom stage on Strictly Come Dancing last Saturday. Their American Smooth routine, set to Paul Anka's 'Jump', was met with applause from the judges, earning them a commendable score of 37 points.
Shirley Ballas, the head judge, complimented McCausland on having the "best feet I've seen in a long time", and not missing a beat. Anton Du Beke also chimed in with praise, stating he'd be surprised if anyone could outdo their performance that night. However, in his column for the Daily Telegraph, the 47-year-old expressed apprehension about the upcoming dance, confessing that mastering the Paso has proven challenging, reports Lancs Live .
He shared: "The posture and frame is so bizarre and extreme that it took poor Dianne quite a while to get me to understand what was required. "I had absolutely no reference points for this dance and whereas all of the other contestants are able to watch one another and get a good idea of what might be needed from future dances, Dianne has to start from absolute zero with me every Monday. This one has been a bit of a head scramble, but we will do our best to entertain.
" Chris, Strictly Come Dancing's inaugural blind contestant, has quickly become a fan favourite and a top contender to win the Glitterball trophy. The star has consistently wowed both the audience and judges with his performances. The Liverpool-born comedian lavished compliments on Blackpool's vibrant atmosphere, although he was less confident about his and dance partner Dianne's chances this week.
He said: "I don't think Shirley and Anton will be needing their 10 paddles". Commenting on the much-anticipated Blackpool week, he remarked: "Strictly's trip to Blackpool received so much hype in its build-up that I could only imagine it would end up being underwhelming." Continuing with his reflections, he added, "I mean, how could just doing the same things in a different place live up to the weight of expectation that had been heaped upon it? How I love being wrong.
It was an incredible experience and one that I will never forget." Expressing gratitude for how far they've come in the competition, Chris said, "Making it this far feels like we've already won, but week 11 would be nice as well, I suppose. Not sure if I mentioned it, but I'm quite enjoying this dancing lark.
" Don't miss Strictly's next episode, airing Saturday on BBC One at 7.05pm and Sunday at 7.20pm.
