Strictly Come Dancing's very own Amy Dowden graced BBC Breakfast alongside fellow dance pro Carlos Gu, where presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay smoothly transitioned the chit-chat from the duo's upcoming tour to Amy's stint in the beloved dance show. Amy, who was paired with JLS heartthrob JB Gill on the latest series of Strictly , had to bow out due to an injury, paving the way for Lauren Oakley to step in. Despite this hiccup, audiences were thrilled to see Amy make a comeback for a special group number in Saturday night's glittering finale (December 14) .

Kicking off the conversation, Sally posed: "First of all, Amy, how are you? " Amy beamed back: "I'm doing really well, thank you, yeah, really good. To dance in the final was just lush. Especially considering the two years that I've had, absolutely!" Reflecting on the whirlwind of emotions she faced, Amy disclosed: "Obviously, bittersweet.

I would have loved to have been there dancing with JB and Lauren, but I'm so proud of them both. They achieved such incredible dances on the weekend." Curious about her healing journey, Sally queried if Amy ever thought she'd heal in time for the season's big finale.

Showing her resolute spirit, Amy affirmed: "That was my aim and I'm pretty determined! So yeah, that was the goal.", reports Wales Online . With eyes set firmly on what's next, Amy and Carlos are gearing up for their UK extravaganza, Reborn.

When prodded by the BBC anchor as to whether this chapter signified a new beginning, the question lingered, stirring anticipation and promise of rejuvenation, as reported by the Express. Amy Dowden has candidly shared her journey through some tough years, saying: "Yeah, for me, for sure. I hope to give a message as well, always stay true to yourself.

But, that better times can come. For me it's been quite a challenging few years." She continued with a message of resilience and hope: "I want to show the challenge through the show, there's going to be ups and downs, but I hope to give people confidence and uplift them.

The truth behind the struggles but also, you can get through them and don't get bitter get better." With her upcoming tour set to begin in March, Amy is buzzing with excitement, marking it as a significant moment she's looking forward to. She revealed in their chat that it's only recently she's started feeling her strength return.

Delving deeper into her experience, she said: "During chemo, you feel so ill, so rotten and actually, only in the last few weeks I've felt like I've really got my energy back now." Reflecting on her recovery, she added: "Whereas throughout the year last year, I was constantly feeling stronger and better, only in the last few weeks have I realised, yeah, actually I feel like back to the old Amy. Now I can push this on stage with my best friend Carlos, who was there throughout all of my cancer diagnosis,".

Amy faced a daunting grade three cancer diagnosis back in May 2023, which led her down a path of intense treatments including chemotherapy and a mastectomy. In a heartening update, Amy announced this February that her tests showed she has "no evidence of disease".
