12th annual event to be held in Seguin and New Braunfels March 31, 2025 - by AgriLife Today The Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Watershed Partnership will host its 12th annual Spring Stream Cleanup in Seguin and New Braunfels on April 12. Individuals, volunteer groups, businesses, churches and other organizations are invited to assist in the removal of litter from stream banks, roadways and other public areas. Participation in the event is free, and volunteers will receive breakfast tacos, coffee, event T-shirts and cleanup supplies at the cleanup launch sites.
To ensure adequate supplies for all volunteers, participants are asked to preregister at www.geronimocreek.org .
The event will begin at 9 a.m., and volunteers will meet at the Seguin Independent School District Irma Lewis Outdoor Learning Center, 1865 East U.
S. Highway 90, or Oak Creek Elementary School in New Braunfels, 3060 Goodwin Lane. About the cleanup Since the first spring cleanup in 2013, volunteers have removed over 38,000 pounds of waste from the watershed, including creek banks and roadways.
Individuals and groups have made a difference in their communities by restoring and protecting local water quality, and future volunteers can continue this impactful work. “Because we rely on volunteers for this work, we absolutely value their time and commitment,” said Annalee Epps, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program specialist and Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Watershed coordinator, Department of Soil and Crop Sciences . “We hope that participants walk away having enjoyed the chance to get outside, time with friends and family, and getting to feel the satisfaction of a job well done.
” About the partnership The Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Watershed Partnership was established by community members in 2012 as a response to elevated E. coli levels in Geronimo and Alligator creeks. Through free educational programs and outreach events, the partnership seeks to promote the implementation of best management practices by all watershed residents.
