A downtown Aiken restaurant that was open for breakfast and lunch has announced plans to go out of business. “Due to many extenuating circumstances, we have made the hard decision to close our doors,” according to an April 7 post on Straight Outta Brooklyn Bagel & Delicatessen’s Facebook page. “We are so thankful for the, almost, two years we have been able to serve you,” the post continued.

“We have met so many amazing people along the way. “Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all of the support we have had,” the post concluded. The message was from “Michael & Andrea DelSignore and the rest of the staff at SOB Bagel.

” Yvette Gallacchi told the Aiken Standard in early 2023 that she and her husband, Joe, were planning to open Straight Outta Brooklyn at l06 Park Ave. S.W.

“Our bagels will come right out of Brooklyn,” Gallacchi said. “In our opinion, you can’t duplicate a New York bagel outside of New York, so we have a supplier that will be shipping them to us frozen, obviously. Then we will finish them off so they will come out fresh — and warm if you want.

They will be true, authentic New York bagels.” Gallacchi also said that Straight Outta Brooklyn’s roast beef, turkey and corned beef would be “cooked in-house.” The restaurant made its debut in April 2023.

Gallacchi died in November 2023. Straight Outta Brooklyn offered bagels, bialy rolls and Kaiser rolls with toppings that included peanut butter, jelly, plain cream cheese and cream cheese in a variety of flavors, according to sobbagel.com .

Also on the menu were New York deli-style sandwiches and hot sandwiches..
