We have more newsletters Show Me No thanks, close See our Privacy Notice The Met Office has issued a 10-hour wind warning this week after the forecaster named Storm Éowyn. The alert is in place for a large part of the UK, including Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. The warning is scheduled to last from 5am on Friday (January 24) until 3pm the same day.
It covers the whole of Cambridgeshire, including Cambridge, Peterborough , Ely , and Huntingdon . The forecaster has warned that some bus and train services will be affected, with journeys taking longer. Some short term loss of power and other services is also possible, as well as delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.
Storm Éowyn is expected to bring disruptive winds on Friday and Saturday (January 25). Gusts in excess of 80mph could be expected in parts of the UK, with an amber warning issued for northern areas of the country. The Met Office said: "As Storm Éowyn moves across the northwest of the UK on Friday, south to southwesterly winds will strengthen with gusts of 40-50 mph likely for a time, perhaps higher on exposed coasts and hills, before easing through the afternoon.
