The Nifty Realty index closed 2.8 per cent down at 859.35.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 207.36 points at 24039.35, while the BSE Sensex stood down 588.

9 points at 79212.53. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 ended in the green, while 41 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power and Indian Energy Exchg were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Country Condos, Navin Fluorine, Cura Tech, Anupam Rasayan India and UltraTech Cem. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Bhandari Hosiery, Hilton Metal, Jai Balaji Inds, Ind-Swift Labs and GI Engineering hit their fresh 52-week lows.
