Still-recovering Solomon gets breather as UAAP enters Holy Week break

MANILA, Philippines — After missing two games due to a minor sprained left ankle, Alyssa Solomon returned to action for the NU Lady Bulldogs in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, April 13.Solomon fired 12 points and logged four digs for NU which blanked the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 25-16, 25-15, 25-21, to rise to a league-best 11-2 record and secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four."Of course, I'm super excited to be with the team again, especially earlier during the game," said Solomon, who missed NU's games against Adamson and UE due to her injury."We just showed everything we've been training for these past few days. I'm really happy to be back."Solomon, the reigning Best Opposite Spiker, said she isn't fully-recovered yet and her injury still hurts a little but fortunately the league enters the Holy Week break and won't have games until the 23rd.As for the Lady Bulldogs, they will return to action on the 27th to wrap up their elimination round campaign against the UST Golden Tigresses. That meant a two-week window for Solomon to fully recover from her injury."I'm doing okay. I can jump and do everything again, but there are still moments when it hurts a bit but it's manageable," said Solomon."We'll really use these next two weeks to fine-tune everything before facing UST. We'll show our best in that game, it's gonna be exciting."
