The Democratic Party’s chickens have come home to roost, as Lisa Douglas, Sam Drucker and Eb Dawson would have put it on the old TV sitcom “Green Acres.” Even Arnold Ziffel and Hank Kimball, two other red-state rubes from the popular 1960s show set in Hooterville, USA, could have told the D.C.
talking heads that this reckoning was coming. Rubes aren’t as dumb as Democrats think. The Democrats certainly earned their shellacking.
One wonders if it ever occurs to these so-called elites how consummately wrong they often are, viz: Replacing police with social workers, pushing unlimited genders, demanding biological males in female sports, threatening free speech in academia, romanticizing “social justice” protestors who loot and burn cities. This is just the short list. The upshot is that the Democrats turned off millions of voters while Donald Trump and the GOP gained, paving the way for the most vilified figure in American presidential history to easily win the Electoral College, sweep the swing states, take the Senate, hold the House, and add another governorship to the GOP majority.
Trump even won the national popular vote by millions of deplorables. That’s hard to do with the huge population of deep-blue California. Vice President Kamala Harris, meanwhile, raised a billion dollars and still managed to end up $20 million in debt.
That’s also pretty hard to do. The shell-shocked Democrats are in full denial. Instead of rethinking their extreme agenda, they are doubling down, having already started their “Second Resistance” to Trump and wondering what’s wrong with the millions of Americans who voted for him.
Didn’t those yokels hear what a threat to democracy he is? Yes, they heard all about it down at Drucker’s General Store, but they saw right through the left’s lies. Only Democrats and the media who peddle those lies believe them. Together they seem cognitively incapable of comprehending that it is their own lies, extremism and threats to democracy that the country rejects.
>That rejection is large enough that Trump even made significant inroads with women, Blacks, Hispanics and young people – the core groups Democrats rely on to beat Republicans. Voters also rejected the dismal Biden-Harris record, which Democrats and media had preemptively called a great legacy. Now it’s in tatters as Joe shuffles around the White House in the netherworld of his career.
Nancy Pelosi, the liberal media’s beloved “Speaker Emerita,” blames the loss on what she calls the right’s fixation with “guns, God and gays.” Sorry Nancy, but the country has had enough of your team’s economy, wars, border malfunctions, fake existential threats, and misuse of the law to get Trump. Again, this is just the short list.
The postmodern liberal world order that was supposed to usher in joy and equity has degenerated into democracy-threatening illiberalism and actual Orwellian conditions. Donald Trump, a latter-day Eustace Haney, has stuck a fork in it. It’s done.
