Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is known as one of the most brilliant offensive minds in college football. His creative play-calling took social media by storm last week when Texas played Florida. Wide receiver Isaiah Bond took off for a 44-yard run on an end-around trick play that led to a touchdown a few plays later.
The play caught the attention of many NFL and college fans due to the trickery. Apparently that's exactly what Sarkisian hopes happens with his play-calling. During the Texas-Arkansas game in Week 12, ESPN broadcaster Katie George shared an interesting joke that Sarkisian has with his players.
"Sark said he has this running joke with his players," George said. "Can we break Twitter? Which play-call will break Twitter?" George continued by stating Sarkisian tries to do something unexpected every game and the players look forward to checking social media postgame. While that particular play was successful and led to a social media frenzy, Texas isn't having the same luck against Arkansas.
Nelson Chenault-Imagn Images Texas' offense has struggled throughout the game. The Longhorns hold a 13-7 lead at the end of the third quarter thanks to another strong showing from Texas' defense. Quarterback Quinn Ewers has had another shaky performance and is 16-for-27 with 130 pass yards and one touchdown.
Sarkisian will need to dig deep into his playbook to find some type of spark on offense. Perhaps it will make its rounds on Twitter shortly after. Related: Steve Sarkisian Names College Football Program That 'Hates' the Longhorns.
