The No. 3 Texas Longhorns enter Week 13 with a 9-1 record and a clear path to an SEC title game appearance. Texas faces Kentucky in Week 13 and then finishes the regular season against in-state rival Texas A&M in an important SEC showdown.
Texas' only loss came against Georgia in Week 8, and the Longhorns sustained success despite an injury to Quinn Ewers earlier in the year. However, the status and overall health of Ewers have been a common talking point amid the 2024 season. On Thursday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian gave an update on Ewers' health, per Eric Henry.
"Quinn is the healthiest he's been since the injury," Sarkisian said. © Nelson Chenault-Imagn Images That is a positive development for Texas, especially with the final stretch being of utmost importance. Ewers suffered an abdominal injury in Week 3 against UTSA and was later labeled as week-to-week.
Ewers then missed the next two games against UTSA and Mississippi State as Arch Manning filled in and played well. Ewers first game back was against Oklahoma, and the Longhorns won in dominant fashion, 34-3. Over the past two weeks, Ewers has combined to throw seven touchdowns with zero interceptions in wins over Florida and Arkansas, so his health doesn't appear to be an issue anymore, and Sarkisian echoed those sentiments on Thursday.
