Stephen Graham gives biggest hint of more Adolescence episodes but one path ruled out

Actor and co-writer, Stephen Graham has hinted that the Netflix sensation could be back for a second series. The crime drama, which has garnered massive viewership and rave reviews in its first fortnight, explores the aftermath of a 13 year old boy, played by up and coming teenage star Owen Cooper, being accused of killing a fellow student.

Penned by the Liverpudlian actor and Jack Thorne, the narrative tackles current issues of harmful online influences on boys and young men, linking it to the ongoing crisis of violence against women and girls. In a chat with Variety, Graham and executive producer Hannah Walters, who are husband and wife off-screen, discussed the potential future of the series as its popularity continues to grow on Netflix. Knowing how well the show has performed, Stephen said, "let's see how the figures are," before suggesting that "there's the possibility of developing another story". Although, his wife Hannah expressed that crafting a worthy follow-up to Adolescence would be "hard", given the significant impact the show has already made, but she's eager to continue her collaboration with Netflix.

However, she firmly dismissed one particular idea, she said: "A prequel to Adolescence, that's certainly not going to happen. But, there's so much mileage in the one-shot and so much mileage in investing into human nature again and looking at something else." She added: "Yeah, everything's looking good.
