Steady Rain Gives Capital Its Coolest Aug In 11 Years

New Delhi: Frequent rainy days kept this Aug cool. The mean maximum temperature this month was 34.2 degrees Celsius, making it the coolest Aug in the past 11 years.

Aug 2013 saw a lower mean maximum temperature at 33.6 degrees Celsius. The nights were cooler as the mean minimum temperature was 25.

The minimum temperature is recorded early in the morning when the city received rain on most days. Delhi also recorded its wettest Aug in the past 14 years with an average rainfall of 390.

The average maximum and minimum temperatures in Aug last year were 35.4 and 26.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, when the month logged just 91.

8 mm rainfall. Aug last year saw a rain deficit of 61%. Aug 2013, which recorded a lower mean maximum temperature than this year, was wetter with an average rainfall of 321.
