HS BASKETBALL The South Caldwell High School boys basketball team rode a 46-18 halftime lead to an 88-44 win over Bunker Hill to stay perfect through their first five games of the season on Tuesday. The Spartans were led by Connor Setzer with 21 points and Tyler Cline with 17. Ten diff erent South Caldwell players scored in the game with six logging at least eight points.

Head coach Danny Anderson said teamwork has been key for the Spartans in the opening games of the season. "I think, tonight, you saw the teamwork," he said. "Nobody cares who scores, who does what, whatever, we just play together and that's fun .

It's about playing hard and having fun." South Caldwell forced turnovers early and shot well from the outside to jump out to a 22-9 first-quarter lead. Setzer had a pair of threes in the first quarter to set the tone as the Spartans knocked down 11 long distance shots in the game.

South Caldwell freshman leads victory South Caldwell freshman Ava Anderson had 21 first-half points to lead the Spartans to a 76-17 defeat of Bunker Hill on Tuesday. Anderson finished the game with 26 points. Maggie Wilks had 14 and Kristin Barber added 11 for the Spartans.

Barber also had four steals in the game's first three-and-a-half minutes. Anderson got the game started with a three-pointer on South Caldwell's first possession. It was one of three long distance shots she connected on in the opening period.
