FAIRFIELD – More than $316 million in illegal marijuana products were seized by the state in the first three months of the year. Those seizures include 212,681 illegal plants, 120,307 pounds of illegal marijuana, 35 firearms, plus $474,462 in cash that was seized. Ninety-nine warrants were issued, resulting in 29 arrests, the Department of Cannabis Control reported.
In addition to the state agency, the law enforcement actions also included the governor’s Unified Cannabis Enforcement Task Force and the Department of Fish & Wildlife. “This task force continues to make impressive progress disrupting illegal cannabis operators and their supply chain,” Nathaniel Arnold, chief of the Law Enforcement Division for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, said in a statement. The task force's "accomplishments demonstrate the dedication of all agencies involved in the taskforce.
” Of the statewide total, $67.26 million in marijuana was seized by the task force alone. That includes 77,923 illegal plants, 40,747 pounds of marijuana and $330,808 in cash.
The Fish & Wildlife's take amounts to $97.48 million, with 101,473 illegal plants, 8,340 pounds of marijuana and $27,073 in cash seized. There were nine arrests and 11 firearms taken.
The Department of Cannabis Control was responsible for $151.75 million in illegal products seized, including 33,285 illegal plants, 71,220 pounds of marijuana, 24 firearms and $116,581 in cash. The agency made 20 arrests.
“We remain unwavering in our aggressive, strategic approach to reducing illicit cannabis activity,” Bill Jones, chief of DCC’s Law Enforcement Division, said in a statement. “By staying ahead of the threats and swiftly dismantling illegal operations, we are driving up the cost of doing business for bad actors and delivering on our commitment to protect California’s communities and the legitimate industry.” It was not immediately clear if any of the operations were in Solano County.
