State planners have greenlit plans for another childcare centre in Perth’s south. The $2.1 million project by Rowe Group will see a two-storey childcare centre built at 64 Gillon Street, Karawara, after securing the unanimous support of the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel on Thursday morning.
The site’s existing one-storey residential building will be demolished. The childcare centre — which will be directly across from Lake Gillon and Goss Avenue Reserve — will cater for up to 54 children and nine staff and be open from 7am to 6pm, Mondays to Fridays. It will also have up to 14 car parking bays.
“Manning Road is very busy but it’s not a reason to knock this application back,” South Perth councillor Glenn Cridland said. “The people of Karawara should have the same access to childcare facilities as other parts of the city. .
. I don’t see any reasons I would not approve this particular application.”.
