Pune: The state prosecution in a written submission filed on Tuesday on behalf of the Pune police before a special court opposed the bail plea of the director of a school in Karvenagar on the grounds that he might tamper with or destroy evidence if given bail relief. The court has listed the bail plea for a final hearing on Thursday. The police have charged the school director under the provision of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act after an alleged sexual abuse of four minor students by the school's dance teacher came to the fore last week.

The dance teacher is currently lodged in the Yerawada central prison. The prosecution expressed fear that the school director might influence or threaten witnesses and parents of the four minor boys who were ‘sexually assaulted in the school by the dance teacher' and might prevent them from testifying during the trial. Assistant inspector Ranjeet Mohite in his written submission filed through the special public prosecutor Nitin Konghe said investigations in the case are at a crucial stage as the police plan to arrest the dance teacher in a second case related to the alleged sexual assault on minor boys.

The prosecution feared that it would be difficult to secure the director's presence for trial if he was released on bail.
