Starbucks launches winter menu, including cortados for first time, as well as a new vegan treat, Valentine's Day cake pops and the return of pistachio lattes.

A Spanish sip is coming to America’s largest coffee chain. Starbucks just its winter menu, with new and returning treats, as well as the addition of the cortado, which originates from Spain, to its espresso beverage lineup. The name “cortado” comes from the Spanish word “cortar,” which means “to cut,” because of the way steamed milk cuts through the intensity of the espresso.

Starbucks’ cortado joins its roster of espresso-based beverages like the Latte, Americano, Macchiato and Espresso Con Panna. The drink is only served hot in a short size (8 ounces) and features three ristretto shots of Blonde Espresso “cut” with steamed milk. Customers can also order a sweeter, nondairy version of the drink: the new Brown Sugar Oatmilk Cortado.



In addition to the Cortado, there are a few new and returning favorites coming to the green siren: Additionally, Starbucks has altered its matcha powder to now be sweetened with classic syrup in response to a popular customer request for the ability to adjust the level of sweetness in its matcha drinks.
