Expressing shock over threats issued by BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde) party leaders against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin on Wednesday condemned the intimidation and called for immediate protection for Gandhi.

Stalin emphasized that such acts of violence and threats have no place in a democratic society. In a message posted on his ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) page, Stalin stated, “Deeply shocked by media reports of a BJP leader’s threat that Rahul Gandhi ‘will meet the same fate as his grandmother,’ and a Shinde Sena MLA’s bounty for cutting his tongue, along with other intimidating threats.” Stalin further noted that the growing popularity of Rahul Gandhi has clearly unsettled many, leading to “vile acts of intimidation.

” He emphasized that Gandhi’s charisma and public support should be met with democratic discourse, not violence. Stalin urged the Union government to take swift action to ensure the safety of Rahul Gandhi and reaffirm the principle that intimidation and violence have no role in India’s democracy..
