The Orissa High Court on Monday directed a joint meeting of key stakeholders to address illegal activities at Satyabrata Stadium, situated within the Barabati Fort area of Cuttack . The decision came following allegations of anti-social activities near the Archaeological Survey of India ( ASI ) protected monument, Barabati Fort , came to the fore. Incidentally, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA), citing media reports, informed the Court that the stadium ground has turned into a haven for anti-socials, including a place for liquor consumption after dusk.
In response, the HC directed Cuttack DCP, Jagmohan Meena, to conduct regular patrols. "The CMC commissioner shall take immediate steps to ensure proper lighting on the ground," stated the Court order. ALSO READ: Several roads still await renovation in Cuttack as deadline fixed by Orissa HC ends today Meanwhile, the division bench of Justices SK Sahoo and V Narasingh also called for a joint task force and a meeting to be chaired by the collector of Cuttack and all other stakeholders, including ASI officials, to form a plan, The Indian Express reported.
"The action taken report in this regard shall be placed before this court on the next date (December 12)," stated the bench. Besides, the Court also ordered the regulation of vehicle parking outside the stadium to avoid road congestion and urged the CMC commissioner to ensure immediate cleanup and pruning of trees in the area.
