Honolulu's weekend forecast is stable and dry, with high pressure over the islands through Saturday. Expect mostly clear skies and only brief showers on the east and southeast slopes, according to the latest update from NWS Honolulu. As we enter the evening, "Clouds will rebuild over island mountain and interior sections around noon HST as up slope land breezes build clouds over each island," as reported by the NWS.

These clouds, along with a few stray showers, might pop up overnight due to wind convergence around the lee side island convergence plumes. Temperature inversions are playing their part, too, stabilizing the atmospheric boundary layer at around 7,000 feet, which is a mere 1,000 feet higher than was observed on the previous Thursday afternoon. The weekend weather looks good, with light to moderate southeasterly winds and sea breezes.

There may be some afternoon clouds in the interior and leeward areas, but showers will be brief and light. The calm weather should continue into early next week, though a low-pressure system west of the state could bring some tropical moisture to Niihau, Kauai, and Oahu. For aviators, the outlook is similarly agreeable with "mostly dry and stable conditions" lingering into the weekend.

There may be occasional light to moderate showers, especially overnight, but these are anticipated to be brief and isolated. Mariners, too, can expect a relaxed period with light to moderate E-SE winds predicted, and no severe weather watches or warnings on the horizon. A small north-northeast swell is on the rise today, with a couple of other swells expected to follow into next week, as per NWS.

Flyers and sailors should watch the weather from Sunday onward as a low-pressure system may change conditions. For now, the weather is steady, but stay tuned for updates..
