The city of St. Louis and neighboring regions are preparing for a week of fluctuating weather conditions. As residents begin their Saturday, they face overcast skies with a breeze and temperatures sitting comfortably in the mid-60s.

The humidity holds at 25 percent with southwest winds reaching up to 22 mph and gusts potentially hitting 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis, MO.For those planning their weekend, the NWS advises a 50 percent chance of rain later in the day, mainly after 1 pm.



Also noted was widespread haze before 8 am. As the day progresses, temperatures are expected to peak near 69°F. Tonight, there's "a 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after 9pm," said the NWS, with the mercury forecasted to dip to a low around 36°F.

These conditions come ahead of a mostly cloudy Sunday, which should gradually yield to sunshine, with a high near 52°F and northwest winds gusting as high as 24 mph.Looking further ahead, Monday promises sunny skies and a high near 66°F with lighter winds ushering in what appears to be a milder start to the week. The overnight low heading into Tuesday is expected to hover around 50°F.

The NWS predicts that Tuesday itself will be mostly sunny with a pleasantly warmer high near 75°F.Midweek, however, could present a different challenge. "Rain likely, mainly after 1pm," forecasts the NWS, with Wednesday's high near 70°F and breezier conditions.

The NWS adds, There's a 60 percent chance of precipitation, and the forecast for Wednesday night suggests that rain may mix with snow before tapering off, with lows around 35°F. Thursday offers only a 20 percent chance of snow but promises clear, sunny skies with highs climbing back up to the mid-50s.For anyone keeping an eye on potential severe weather, the NWS's Hazardous Weather Outlook has flagged a slight chance of thunderstorms for the afternoon in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois and again on Wednesday.
