St Joseph's survive big scare to beat Saints

Chalfont Saints, bottom of the Watford Sunday League top-flight table without a win, almost caused a massive upset as they led St Joseph’s 3-0 with just 25 minutes left, before Joes struck five times to ensure a remarkable comeback.

Andre Ford gave Saints an early lead which he doubled before the break. The points looked to be in the bag for the home side when they went 3-0 ahead after pressuring Joes into conceding an own goal. Looking into abyss of a shock result, Joes brought on Lewis Putman and Sam Clark which changed the game as their opponents, with just the bare 11 players, started to tire.

First Caden Barber headed home, but it was Putman who brought Joes level thanks to two delicate free-kicks. Clark then put Joes ahead for the first time before Dom David completed the comeback with the final kick of the game. and drew 2-2, a result which does not help either team’s title aspirations.
