Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has impressed upon Union Minister of Steel H.D.
Kumaraswamy the need to resolve the salary issues being faced by employees of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) at the earliest to ensure smooth functioning of the plant. He said that addressing this issue was critical not only for the employees but also for the long-term sustainability of the plant. Sribharat met the Steel Minister in New Delhi on Thursday (November 28, 2024) and discussed the ongoing issues at the steel plant. While welcoming the decision to restart the second blast furnace, which will enhance production capacity and improve the plant’s operational efficiency, he emphasised that the delay in payment of salaries has created significant hardships for the workers, affecting their morale and well-being. The Minister assured Mr.
Sribharat that the matter was being actively addressed and that a solution would be reached soon. The Minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to taking all necessary steps to support both the steel plant and its workforce. The MP expressed confidence that with the government’s support, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant would overcome its current challenges and continue to play a vital role in the region’s economic growth and development.
