As the San Antonio Spurs look to build around Victor Wembanyama, defensive-minded players and shooters have been their main targets in the trade market, free agency, and the NBA Draft. Last offseason, the Spurs traded for Harrison Barnes with the hopes that he would space the floor, drafted Stephon Castle, who is a lockdown defender and signed Chris Paul as a mentor and floor general. The Spurs seem pretty content with their starting lineup.

Paul runs the offense, Devin Vassell (when healthy) and Barnes space the floor, Jeremy Sochan is a disruptor and glue guy and Wembanyama is an anchor on both ends of the floor. However, Wembanyama, Sochan and Castle when he's playing are not elite marksmen. Wembanyama can shoot the 3-ball, but he is not nearly as reliable as some of the best shooters in the league.

That is why the Spurs have been linked to Miami Heat sharpshooter Duncan Robinson on the trade market. "Do the Heat finally dump the sharpshooter as they look to clean up their cap sheet?" wrote Tyler Watts for Air Alamo on Wednesday. "Robinson is a career 39.

7 percent 3-point shooter who has shot north of 40 percent in two of his first six NBA seasons. Nobody is leaving the proven sharpshooter open." While Robinson is far from a solid defender, his career clip of 39.

7% from three would bode well in the lineup, especially with the second unit in San Antonio. The Spurs have been linked to bigger fish, like Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler , so Robinson could be included as a part of a larger trade package or he could come on his own in a more understated deal. Either way, the Spurs have the salary to match him and the draft picks to build an enticing offer.
