The Prince George Spruce Kings resume their BC Hockey League preseason schedule this Friday night at Kopar Memorial Arena and they will no doubt have vengeance on their minds when they step out onto the ice to face the Surrey Eagles in the first of two-game weekend set. The Eagles skated to 5-2 win over the visiting Kings Saturday night in South Surrey, scoring five consecutive goals to welcome Prince George goalie Ryder Green to the game midway through. Green, a 17-year-old Prince George native, allowed five goals on eight shots while taking over in relief of 19-year-old Minnesota native Carter Wishart, who stopped all 21 shots he faced in a period-and-a-half of game action.

Linden Makow and Cooper Williams were the Spruce Kings scorers. The teams will also meet Saturday at 2 p.m.

Kopar. Friday’s game starts at 7 p.m.

The Spruce Kings opened the exhibition season on the road Friday with a 3-2 overtime win over the Coquitlam Express. Brogan McNeil scored his second of the game, 56 seconds into OT, to send the Kings to locker room victorious. Antonia Bevacqua also scored for Prince George.

Green and Andrik Lygas combined to stop 27 of 29 Express shots. The Spruce Kings, who have shifted to the Mainland Division in the expanded 21-team BCHL, start the regular season next weekend with road games in Surrey, Chilliwack and Langley. Coquitlam visits Prince George for the Spruce Kings’ home-opening weekend Sept.
