Home | ‘Springboks-All Blacks clash celebrates rugby’s greatest rivalry’ Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie says this evening’s test match between the Springboks and the All Blacks is a once-off landmark event to celebrate rugby’s greatest rivalry. The match will kick off at 5 PM at Ellis Park in Johannesburg. It’s a replay of last year’s World Cup final in which the Boks won, and at the same venue where South Africa beat New Zealand to win their first World Cup in 1995.

McKenzie says he is thrilled that the SABC and SuperSport have found each other as the match will also be broadcast live on SABC 2, SABC Sports channel and streaming platforms. The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Group CEO, Nomsa Chabeli, says the deal shows that the Boks match is not exclusively for a privileged few. Chabeli says, “As SABC, we don’t take for granted the public mandate that we have been granted and what it means to grant universal access to South Africans who tend to stand on the margins of society.

We understand our role and we understand that it is important for us to inspire and build our national pride and patriotism .” VIDEO: Chabeli, McKenzie address press briefing: SABC © 2024.
