Home | Springbok Damian Willemse to miss 3 test series after injury Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has been forced to make another change to his squad for next month’s three test matches in the United Kingdom (UK). Damian Willemse, who was the preferred fullback for last year’s Rugby World Cup final against New Zealand in Paris, has been ruled out. He picked up a groin injury in scoring a try in the Stormers’ United Rugby Championship match against the Glasgow Warriors in Stellenbosch on Saturday.

In a surprise move, Erasmus decided to replace Willemse with a loose forward. The Bulls’ Cameron Hanekom, considered unlucky not to be named in the initial squad, has now earned a well deserved first call-up. The Springboks, who will play Scotland, England and Wales, leave for the UK on Sunday.
