Spot-sized wildfire discovered between Salmon Arm and Chase now under control

A spot-sized wildfire discovered in the Charcoal Creek area west of Salmon Arm is now under control. The BC Wildfire Service said this means the fire isn’t projected to spread beyond its current perimeter. The wildfire, estimated at less than a hectare in size, was spotted on Monday morning.

A new wildfire in the Charcoal Creek area west of Salmon Arm is suspected to have been caused by human activity. The small fire was discovered Monday morning. The BC Wildfire Service said one initial attack crew and a water tender are responding.



“It's 0.009 hectares in size, which is considered spot size,” said Olive Norris-Leite, BCWS information officer. “It's currently burning rank one and is suspected human caused.

” The fire’s status is already listed as being held, and it is not expected to spread..
