NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has directed the govt to elucidate its position on how the Boxing Federation of India ’s (BFI) long-overdue elections will be conducted after the global governing body – World Boxing (WB) – formed an interim committee to oversee and administer the sport in the country. The court instructed the sports ministry to clarify its stand concerning the global body’s April 7 letter constituting a six-member panel, which will “provide administrative continuity and safeguard the rights and interests of Indian boxers until elections are held and a new democratic executive committee is elected”. , Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, ought to bring forth its stance with respect to the letter issued by World Boxing. Furthermore, learned counsel appearing for the union of India shall also indicate to this court on the next date of hearing, as to how the elections of the BFI are now to be proceeded with,” a single-judge bench of Justice Mini Pushkarna noted in its order.
