By Evolve Editors New photos of Tom Holland taken near the set of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey are circulating online. The 28-year-old English actor, arguably best known for portraying Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the MCU, has reportedly been cast as Telemachus in the movie. In The Odyssey, one of the two Greek epic poems attributed to Homer, Telemachus is the son of the titular protagonist, portrayed in the movie by Matt Damon.
Tom Holland appears presumably as Telemachus in recent set photos of The Odyssey, helmed by Christopher Nolan. The X (formerly Twitter) user who posted the photos, @thollandrchive, erroneously presumed at first that the actress appearing alongside Holland is Anne Hathaway, believed to be portraying Penelope, Odysseus’ wife and Telemachus’ mother. However, they later posted a correction post, stating that the actress in the photos is Samantha Morton.

co/Phv0z2ShJY pic.twitter.com/M9d9mDOGR4 In October 2024, it was announced that Nolan would make his 13th film as director through Universal Pictures after the successful collaboration with the production and distribution company on 2023’s Oppenheimer.
At the time, Damon was being eyed to star in the movie, having worked previously with Nolan on Oppenheimer and Interstellar (2014). In December 2024, it was revealed that Nolan was adapting The Odyssey for the project. Universal Pictures released a first-look image of Damon as Odysseus in February 2025, confirming that the Stillwater actor was indeed portraying the legendary eponymous hero in the movie.
Besides Damon, Holland, Morton, and Hathaway, some of the other confirmed cast members are Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal. Production began in February 2025 and is currently ongoing. The Odessey comes out in US theaters on July 17, 2026.
