Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has proposed the establishment of a National Vulture Awards scheme to expose corrupt public officials in the country. Speaking recently in Parliament, he emphasised that such awards would play a critical role in promoting integrity and fostering a culture of accountability. He explained that just as the National Integrity Awards scheme seeks to celebrate men and women of integrity, the National Vulture Awards would serve to shame corrupt individuals.
“The National Integrity Awards scheme is therefore a crucial step in promoting integrity in the country by recognising and honouring individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and the fight against corruption. “By this initiative, we aim to inspire a national movement where integrity is not only expected as stated, but desired and rewarded. “Therefore, apart from the National Integrity Award that will be awarded to men and women of integrity, there will also be what is termed the Vulture Award that would be bestowed upon men and women considered perverse and persons with the lowest levels integrity in the country,” he stated.
