Spain, Italy, Greece and Majorca weather warnings as Europe hit by snow and storms

Continential holiday hotspots beloved by Brits look set to be hammered by further wintry conditions over the weekend, with large parts of Spain and its islands, and Cyprus already under extreme weather warnings. Forecast data collected by WXCHARTS.COM , shows rainclouds forming over large parts of Spain at 3pm on Friday with major cities like Madrid and Seville set for a downpour.

Neighbouring Portugal is also set for a washout across much of the country, including in popular tourist destinations like Porto, Braga, and the capital, Lisbon, the maps from this morning indicate. By the following day, large parts of Spain including central, northern and northeastern areas could be seeing an unseasonable bucketing of snow as well as rain. Barcelona is among various cities that could get a soaking, as rain continues throughout Portugal , just as many Britons head off for early spring getaways.



Orange and yellow weather warnings have been issued across the mainland area and its islands, with widespread alerts in place on Friday for heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas among the concerns. The top half of Italy also looks set for soaking on Saturday, with maps showing the likes of Florence, Rome, and Milan affected. Northern areas also face the possibility of snow, the maps suggest. Meanwhile, authorities in Cyprus have issued a weather warning as the island braces itself for extreme weather .

The warning was put out by the Meteorological Department yesterday and will remain in place until midnight on Sunday. According to experts, the island will be battered by strong winds and storms, with wintery weather also expected in some areas . Various other parts of Europe that normally enjoy balmy conditions around this time could also be set for snow and rain, inlcuding Croatia, and even mainland Greece.
