Today’s weather: Cool, sunny Good morning and happy Tuesday. We're going to experience a warming trend over the next few days and if you haven't heard already, a powerful storm is heading to Northern California and the Pacific Northwest — we'll explore what that means for us in the Southland. Look for mostly sunny skies today.
Across the Southland temperatures will range in the mid 60s to low 70s — around 64 degrees along the beaches and inland coast to the low 70s for the Inland Empire, L.A. County valleys and Orange County inland.
Meanwhile, high desert temperatures will still experience chilly temperatures in the upper 50s, but we are looking at a high of 72 degrees for Coachella Valley. Tonight's lows will drop to the 40s for most of the Southland and in the 30s for the high desert. There's a wind advisory for most of L.
A. County valleys and mountains today. Forecasters report that gusty winds up to 45 mph will affect mainly the Malibu coast, San Fernando Valley, and the Santa Monica and San Gabriel mountains until noon.
The National Weather Service says a strong atmospheric river will hit Northern California by Wednesday, bringing the potential of heavy rain, flash flooding, gusty winds and even heavy snow. Most of the rainfall will concentrate in the northern and inland area of California, but forecasters say there could be periods of light to locally moderate rainfall Saturday through Monday in SoCal. Right now it's not clear the timing or the amount of rain we will see here, but the NWS says the best estimate calls for no more than an inch of rain.
Any snow will come Sunday and Monday when the weather gets colder..
