( MENAFN - Trend News Agency) BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 28. TheExport-Import bank of Korea (Korean Eximbank) is ready to continueimplementing projects in Kyrgyzstan, which will strengthen economicand social ties between the two countries, Trend reports via theMinistry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan. This was discussed during a meeting between Kyrgyz Ambassador toSouth Korea Aida Ismailova, senior executive director of EximbankHwang Kiyeon, and the head of the Economic Development CooperationFund (EDCF) Hong Soon Young.
The parties examined prospects for enhancing collaboration infunding social and infrastructure initiatives in Kyrgyzstan.Significant focus was directed towards prospective initiatives inthe energy, building, and modernization sectors of hospitals andairports, along with the acquisition of road and transportationequipment. In her remarks, Ismailova highlighted the importance ofsustainable collaboration with Eximbank, noting that such projectsimprove the quality of life for citizens and create conditions forfurther economic growth.
At the end of January this year, the Kyrgyz parliament ratifiedan agreement with Eximbank, under which the bank will provideKyrgyzstan with a loan of $27 million to expand its infectiousdisease hospital. In March 2024, Kyrgyzstan and Eximbank agreed to explore thepossibility of exchanging experiences in implementing new financingtools and mechanisms as part of their strategy for building asustainable economy. The Export-Import Bank of Korea is the official export creditagency of South Korea.
Established in 1976, its primary goal is tosupport the country's export-oriented economy by providing loansand financing.
