Moroccan pharmaceutical company Societe de Therapeutique Marocaine (Sothema) has committed to procuring green power to meet 100% of its electricity consumption in its home country. The company signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) that will provide around 20 GWh of green electricity annually. The electricity will be supplied by a major renewable energy producer in Morocco, though the name of the provider has not been disclosed.

Details regarding the specific source of the electricity were not included in the press release. The PPA was sealed to support Sothema’s commitment to sustainable development and efforts to minimise the impact of its activities on biodiversity. The company estimates that this agreement will reduce its carbon footprint by 94%, offsetting around 14,000 tonnes of emissions per year.
