A singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer, this year's headliner at the Ayclive festival had a string of chart hits in the 1908s. This is the third year of the live music event in Newton Aycliffe and organisers last week announced that Nik Kershaw would be leading the line-up on day two of this year's festival. 'Ayclive' will be on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the OakLeaf Sports Complex on the town's School Aycliffe Lane.

Festival goers can expect two days of live music, starting on the Friday evening with fourpiece band Clubland Live. Music on the Saturday starts at 11am, with acts including The Overthinkers, Skaboom UK and The Breakfast Club, culminating in a set from Kershaw. In a special video message to fans, Kershaw said: "Please come along and you will be royally entertained with loads of bands playing 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s music, so bring a change of costume, I will be bringing mine.

"I am really looking forward to seeing you there." Kershaw has written a number of timeless classics such as "Wouldn't It Be Good", "I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", and "The Riddle". On Facebook the event organisers said: "His performance promises to be a highlight of the festival, bringing both nostalgia and musical excellence to the Husqvarna stage.
