Sonakshi Sinha married her longtime beau, Zaheer Iqbal, on June 23 in presence of their family and close friends. As the two belonged from different religions, they decided to solemnise their marriage in a civil ceremony, which was then followed by a grand reception in the evening of the same day. The couple, who dated for seven long years, kept their relationship away from the media glares and never talked about it publicly.
However, now that they are married, the duo do not shy away from flaunting their love for one another in public. Recently, the newlyweds sat for a candid conversation with ETimes. During this, Zaheer shared that he often has to remind himself of the fact that he is now married to the Heeramandi actress, as he would refrain from holding her hands in public.
“I still keep forgetting that I’m married to Sonakshi like when we go out in public, I’m like I can’t hold her hand, and then I realise ‘ab to shaadi ho gayi’,” said the Notebook actor. Meanwhile, Sonakshi added, “It feels like nothing has changed between us. It still feels like how we felt when we began dating seven years back.

Zaheer mentioned, “We always try to one up each other. There’s an ongoing battle between us as to who loves the other person more.
I think that is the best thing that can happen to the couple, when you are trying very hard from morning till night to convince them that you love them more, and they are like, no, they love you more!” In the same conversation, the Dahaad actress talked about how her husband likes to surprise her every now and then, with Zaheer even adding that she pretends to know about the surprise when, in reality, they catch her off-guard. Ever since their June wedding, Sonakshi and Zaheer have been enjoying the honeymoon phase of their marriage. In the last few months, the couple has travelled to the Philippines and New York to spend time together.
They were also part of this year’s India Day Parade in NYC. The actress has been keeping her fans updated about their whereabouts through her social media posts. On the work front, Sonakshi and Zaheer are set to collaborate again on Tu Hai Meri Kiran after their first collaboration Double XL in 2022, which failed to impress the audience and critics.
