Actress Somy Ali, known for her past relationship with Salman Khan, has shared her perspective on the ongoing controversy surrounding Lawrence Bishnoi. In a recent interview with India Today, she discussed her now-deleted Instagram post inviting Bishnoi for a Zoom call, clarifying that her intention was to initiate a dialogue for peace following the death of political leader Baba Siddique and the fresh threats directed at Salman. Ali expressed her readiness to apologize for any unintentional mistakes related to the incident but stated that she does not feel inclined to apologise to Bishnoi at this time, describing him as having "loose screws.
" She added that her actions were not influenced by Salman Khan and noted that she has not spoken to him since 2012. In her comments, Ali defended Salman Khan in light of the 1998 blackbuck shooting case, asserting that he genuinely did not know the Bishnoi community considers blackbucks sacred. She recalled that Salman had informed her of his ignorance about this, as she admitted to participating in outdoor shoots with him during that time.
Responding to the backlash, Ali expressed her interest in having a conversation with Devendra instead of "self-proclaimed gangster" Bishnoi. She further mentioned that she would visit the Bishnoi community to offer a small donation and participate in their rituals. The context of Somy’s comments comes in light of new threats against Salman Khan, who received a demand for Rs 5 crore in extortion following Baba Siddique's death.
Reports indicate that the message was sent via WhatsApp to the Mumbai Traffic Police, warning Khan that to resolve his feud with Bishnoi, he would need to pay the extortion amount..
