S-OIL, together with the Korea Social Welfare Council, held the 'Firefighting Hero Award Ceremony' at the Locus Hotel in Yongsan on Nov. 28, and awarded eight 'Hero Firefighters' with plaques and KRW 90 million in cash prizes. At the ceremony, S-OIL awarded a plaque and KRW 20 million in prize money to Firefighter Yoo Seung-geol (Namyangju Fire Station, Gyeonggi Province), who was selected as the 'Best Hero Firefighter' by a jury of fire-related experts.
In addition, seven other heroic firefighters, including Fire Chief Kim Kwang-soo (Cheongsong Fire Station, Gyeongsangnam-do), received a plaque and KRW 10 million each. Firefighter Yoo Seung-geol, who was selected as the top hero firefighter of the honor, rescued one person by underwater search during a water accident in Changhyeon-ri, Hwado-eup, Namyangju City in June 2024, responded to a warehouse fire in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju City in April, and safely rescued a missing person with intellectual disabilities in Wabu-eup, Namyangju City. “We are deeply impressed by the efforts of firefighters who save lives without risking their own at the scene of various fires and accidents,” said S-OIL CEO Anwar A.
Al-Hejazi. ”We are proud to support the S-OIL Firefighting Heroes program to show our gratitude to them and will continue to do so.” Since 2006, S-OIL has been supporting the Firefighters' Heroes Campaign for 19 years with systematic programs such as ▲ consolation money for the bereaved families of martyred firefighters, ▲ educational expenses for the children of martyred firefighters, ▲ medical expenses for injured firefighters, and ▲ vacation camps for firefighters' wives.
