Soha Ali Khan added the poster of Puratawn, attached to a short note to her post on Instagram stories. Sharmila Tagore is returning to Bengali cinema after 14 years with the upcoming film Puratawn, releasing this week in theatres. Tagore’s last Bengali film was Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s Antaheen.
Not just fans but Tagore’s daughter Soha Ali Khan are also excited for the upcoming release. How do we know? The actress dropped a post on Instagram stories, sharing her enthusiasm for the film. She added the poster of the film, attached to a short note to her post.
It read, “Such a special film coming to theatres in Bengal this week." Take a look at the post here: Last year, in October, Soha Ali Khan, her siblings, Saba Pataudi and Saif Ali Khan, attended the screening of Puratawn at the Mumbai Film Festival 2024. In the album shared by the actress, we can see the beautiful family along with Sharmila Tagore and her co-stars Rituparna Sengupta and Indraneil Sengupta.
The film director, Suman Ghosh, also appears in the images. In her caption, Soha wrote, “To be able to celebrate my mother on the eve of her 80th doing what she loves doing as she has done her whole life – is a privilege and a memory to be cherished." About Puratawn, the film is a mother-daughter story that revolves around Mrs Sen (played by Sharmila Tagore), her daughter (played by Rituparna Sengupta) and her son-in-law (played by Indranil Sengupta).
Produced by Bhavna Aaj O Kal and presented by Rituparna Sengupta, the film will release in theatres on April 11. Talking about the film, Rituparna earlier told Hindustan Times, “In Puratawn, what we want to show is that this connection lingers. It is a beautiful journey of relationships.
It is a tribute to motherhood and something that is very close to my heart." As for Soha Ali Khan, the actress will next be seen with Nushrratt Bharuccha in the upcoming horror-thriller Chhorii 2. A sequel to the 2021 film Chhorii, the forthcoming film will see Nushrratt returning as Sakshi to rescue her seven-year-old daughter, fighting against superstitions and societal malpractices.
Chhorii 2 is slated to be released on Amazon Prime Video on April 11. It is directed by Vishal Furia..
