Social Security is under attack

Our beloved Social Security, as we‘ve known it, is under deliberate attack. The Trump administration’s insidious strategy for weakening the agency, that is ours, is in full view: 1. First, exaggerated lies about "massive fraud," to create pretexts for "reform.

" 2. Then deep cuts imposed to staffing and services. Close local offices to cripple accessibility, increasing errors and wait times.

3. Reduced critical technical staff to further jeopardize reliability, causing gradual increase of payment delays, by days, then weeks, then longer. 4.

Threaten the security of our sensitive personal information by giving illegitimate access to Musk’s untrained DOGE minions. 5. Watch the entire system weaken, then falter and collapse, as the $3 trillion trust fund is gradually parceled out to billionaire privatizing profiteers in waiting.

Billionaire Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick gaslights us: Relax, says he. Why, if his mother-in-law’s check were late, she’d wait patiently (living in his billionaire mansion). Only fraudsters would complain.

Elon Musk (who calls SS a Ponzi scheme) echoes that claim. That, friends, should keep us quiet, to avoid fraud charges, when payments are interrupted. The most recent outrage: Using SS data, HHS illegally stripped the SS numbers of 6,300+ LIVING immigrants, legally authorized to work in America, and moved their names to the SS Master File of deaths — literally ruining their lives.

Courageous SS employees who resisted the illegal action were fired. Seems the police state has arrived. We have to assume Blackburn, Hagerty and Harshbarger tacitly support privatization.

Otherwise, given the obvious intent of the attacks, they’d have strongly interceded for us by now. At this point, only overwhelming public pushback will change their minds (incessant phone calls, emails, postcards, starting/joining public protests). Social Security is vital to so many, and now only we, the public, can save it.
