Neymar is reportedly on the verge of suffering a major setback in Saudi Arabia, having only played five times for Al Hilal since his arrival last year. The 32-year-old's return to the field could be delayed until 2025, as per reports. According to the Brazil international is set to be excluded by Al Hilal manager Jorge Jesus for the first half of the season.

The Saudi Pro League champions can only register eight of their nine non-Saudi players for league action, with Neymar believed to not be ready to return any time soon. Various reports on the weekend suggested that the ex-Barcelona and Paris-Saint-Germain winger failed a medical ahead of the new campaign. It is said that teams in Saudi's top division must finalise their domestic squads by 11 September, with Brazilian left-back Renan Lodi expected to be picked over Neymar.

The superstar has been out of action since October last year following an ACL injury he picked up while on international duty. Neymar was able to only turn out on five occasions for Al Hilal in his debut season, with his contract in Saudi running until June 2025..
