Snowboarder dies in medical facility after being found buried in the snow in Park City

A snowboarder was found pronounced dead after being found buried in the snow at a Summit County ski resort on Wednesday, according to officials.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) -- A snowboarder was pronounced dead after being found buried in the snow at a Summit County ski resort on Wednesday, according to officials.The Summit County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that the snowboarder was identified as a 55-year-old man from out of state. Further identifying information was not provided.

on Wednesday. The victim was found buried in snow near an area of the Canyons Village at Park City Mountain.A family member of the victim helped ski patrollers dig him out of the snow, and he was later transported to a medical facility on-site.

However, the sheriff's office said he was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts."The Summit County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased," the press release reads.Authorities said further details will be released as they're available.
